Are you a fan of the mobile Doctor Who: Legacy game from Tiny Rebel Games and Seed Studio?
Since its release across various mobile platforms back in November 2013, the game has quickly become a favorite with Who fans young and old, especially with its easy to understand “match-3″ type gameplay. And being able to to team the Doctor with his companions to face some of his greatest foes of the past 50 years has only made it even more fun!
While the game originally included the Eleventh and Tenth Doctors and some of their companions, more Doctors and companions have continued to be added to the ranks, from Clara and Amy and River to the Eighth, Seventh, and Third Doctors, each with their own unique abilities to help in fight to save the universe. In fact, a new playable character was added to the game’s Fan Area this week – Jenny, the “Doctor’s Daughter”!
We’ve even gotten a few side characters from the Who universe – Captain Jack and Ianto Jones from Torchwood and Sarah Jane Smith and K9 (Mark 2) from the Sarah Jane Adventures.
Recently, Jess Griffin of Project: Torchwood spoke with one of the game’s creators, Susan Cummings, about the game and about what other characters players might see as the game continues to grow.
You brought us Captain Jack and Ianto Jones soon followed will you be bringing us Gwen Cooper and maybe the rest of the Torchwood team? (I would love to see Toshiko Sato and Dr Owen Harper).
Absolutely! Gwen Cooper has officially signed off on joining the game, so we’re planning to have her in during (or before) season 4. We would love to do a Torchwood specific side story to the main game which incorporates not just the whole Torchwood Three team, but the more Torchwood specific aliens and themes.
We have Sarah Jane Smith are there any plans to bring in Luke and the other characters from The Sarah Jane Adventures?
We’re not just huge fans of Doctor Who but the whole of the “expanded universe” as well. We would love to dive deeper into the Sarah Jane universe, in the same way as we would love to do more with Torchwood.
Check out the rest of the interview with details about how the game came to be and about the process for introducing new characters over on the Project: Torchwood blog!
Who would you like to see in the game next? I am currently still playing through the Season 5 levels but am surprised we haven’t seen Rose Tyler in some form, either as Rose, as Bad Wolf, or event the Moment! And we need Donna Noble! Imagine playing a team with the Tenth Doctor, Donna, and the Adipose!
